Android spam call filter

You can use a feature called Caller ID and Spam Protection.

"When you make or receive a call with caller ID and spam protection on, you can get information about callers or businesses outside your contacts or warnings about potential spam callers," Google explained.

"To use caller ID and spam protection, your phone may need to send information about your calls to Google.

"If someone outside your contact list calls you, or you call them, that phone number is sent to Google to help identify its business caller ID name or determine if the call is spam."

To turn it on, go onto the Phone app on your Android phone.

Now tap into More Options – that's the icon made up of three vertical dots.

Next choose Settings > Spam and Call Screen.

Then make sure See Caller and Spam ID is turned on.

You can also choose Filter Spam Calls to automatically block spam calls.

This will prevent missed call and voicemail notifications for spam calls too.

But you can check for a log of your blocked calls by going into your call history – or checking your voicemail.

Anti-spam Messages trick

You can also report spam to Google, which should limit the amount of spam texts you receive.

When you report a conversation as spam, it automatically blocks the sender and hides the message.

To do this, open the Messages app and then touch and hold the conversation that you want to report.

Tap Block > Report spam > OK.

The spammer's phone number will be reported to Google, as well as the last 10 incoming messages from the spammer.

Google won't tell the spammer that you reported them, but they should be blocked by Google if it's verified as spam.
