American Express to offer up to £15 cashback to support small businesses

American Express is set to support small businesses once again with the return of its popular Shop Small Offer. The thee-day-long scheme will reward shoppers for spending money with small businesses across the UK.

From December 1 to December 3, American Express UK cardmembers will receive a £5 statement credit when they spend £15 or more at participating small businesses across the UK.

The offer can be used up to three times, once per participating small business location, meaning that cardmembers can reward themselves with up to £15 back in statement credits, helping their spending go further this December.

The Shop Small Offer will launch on the eve of Small Business Saturday, which returns on December 2, 2023.

The offer returns as new research from American Express shows up to 79 percent of adults in the UK think it’s important to support local businesses when shopping this Christmas.

Mr Mole added: “Over this crucial shopping period, we invite our cardmembers to show their love for the places that make our villages, towns and cities so special.”

There are a number of other opportunities to secure cashback deals for those who aren’t customers of American Express. Recently, Monzo launched an in-app feature to help people earn some money back from their shopping.

Customers can typically earn between two percent and 10 percent cashback, but some may be able to rack up as much as 35 percent depending on the retailer.

People can also earn rewards via other apps and websites, such as TopCashback and Quidco.

Tom Ellmers, head of savings at Tandem previously said: “There are many apps and websites that offer cashback at top websites, such as TopCashback and Quidco. These give you money back for your transactions if you use the link they provide you. Additionally, coupon sites scrape the internet to find active offers to lower your basket price – giving you an even better saving. Check to see if you can get a lower price before you click checkout.”
