Drivers are rushing to buy £6 pouch which could save you £1,000s after cops issue urgent warning | The Sun

DRIVERS are rushing to buy a £6 pouch which could save you £1,000s after cops issued an urgent warning.

Many modern cars have fobs that allow you to open the vehicle remotely and start the engine without turning a key in the ignition.

While the latest keyless entry systems and push-button ignitions are convenient for the honest motorist, they're also very handy for crooks.

That's why Northamptonshire Police tweeted: "If your car has a keyless entry fob, using a faraday pouch to store it overnight can protect your vehicle from thieves."

They recommended the Defender Signal Blocker – a police-approved product which costs around £6.

The high-quality faraday pouch combats two of the biggest security and safety issues: relay attacks on vehicle fobs and distracted driving caused by mobile phone use.

When sealed inside the pouch, proximity fobs are fully protected from tech-savvy car thieves, ensuring your vehicle cannot be stolen.

Similarly, a sealed mobile phone cannot receive any calls or notifications, leaving a driver free to focus on the road.

Once removed, all missed alerts come through to the phone within five seconds.

It comes as a TikTok revealed a little-known key fob hack that could save drivers a fortune if they get locked out of their cars.
