Fans shocked as Nintendo closes the net around Zelda leaker – there’s just one thing in its way | The Sun
NINTENDO has almost discovered the identity of the person who leaked information about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
The next Zelda game is set to release on May 12, 2023, but a huge amount of information was discovered prior to official announcements.
In February, one Discord user got their hands on the official Tears of the Kingdom artbook that is to be sold with the collector’s edition.
The artbook contains 200 pages of images and concept art from the unreleased game, including the names of new enemies, characters and locations.
Images were uploaded to the “Tears of the Kingdom Official Discord Server”, and were quickly removed.
Despite the word ‘official’ being used in the title of the server, it was in no way affiliated with Nintendo or Zelda.

This was due to Nintendo of America issuing a DMCA notification to Discord to remove its copyrighted material.
However, users continued to circulate the images, and 10 phours after the first release, Nintendo asked for the whole server to be removed.
As discovered by TorrentFreak, Nintendo is now closer than ever to finding out the identity of the leaker and has ordered a subpoena for Discord for the information.
A subpoena is a legal requirement for someone to present documents.

Nintendo’s claim reads: “NoA [Nintendo of America] is requesting the attached proposed subpoena that would order (“Discord”) to disclose the identity.
“[This is] including the name(s), address(es), telephone number(s), and e-mail addresses(es) of the user Julien#2743.
“[The person] who is responsible for posting infringing content that appeared at the following channel Discord channel Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.”
It is unclear yet if Nintendo will proceed with criminal procedures if they obtain the leaker’s identity.
