I transformed an old horse box into a home & pulled my kids out of school to live in it full-time – 'I must be mad' | The Sun

A COUPLE say they have feel "mad" for transforming an old horse box into a home and pulled their kids out of school to travel the world.

Damian and Derri-ann embarked on a "journey of a lifetime", documenting it all on social media.

They pair, and their three kids, plan to "travel through UK and eventually Europe, experiencing all the beauty and culture these regions have to offer".

In a video posted to TikTok, they explained how their new home came to be.

The clip shows them working on the horsebox over several weeks to make it cosy and liveable.

First, they gave it a fresh lick of paint to spruce up the tired and battered old exterior.

This took it from a faded rusty-red to a cheerful sky blue colour.

Then the interior was insulated and lined with wooden boards, after a thorough clean of course.

They even managed to wire it so they could have electricity throughout, and they even installed a small kitchen unit, which would presumably supply running water.

The space was brought to life as they decorated it with a seaside-themed navy and white colour scheme.

Damian did much of the work himself with plenty of help from Derri-ann, helping to keep costs down.

Captioning the post, they wrote: "A little glimpse of some of the work we have done so far on our horsebox to convert it to our home on wheels and an upgrade in space from our current motorhome to go full time travelling Europe in July and who knows where else.

"All feels reel now I have passed my 7.5-tonne lorry test and I have given the children's withdrawal letter to their school ready to homeschool on the road.

"We literally must be mad."

Social media commenters loved the idea.

One dubbed it "brilliant".

Since posting the video they have set out on the road and were last spotted touring around France.

It comes after one man revealed how he bought an ambulance on Facebook at 4am before converting it into his new home.
