More info<\/p>\n Starting out, the first two furniture items he created were a wall-mounted garden bar and a radiator cover.<\/p>\n Once Mr Mchale-Smith\u2019s side hustle was off the ground, his business Unique Design by Liam opened its own Etsy store and delivered furniture across the country.<\/p>\n According to the entrepreneur, the business turned over \u00a360,000 and by the end of last year had a turnover of \u00a31million.<\/p>\n His team now produce 40 furniture items a day which are all handmade from locally sourced materials.<\/p>\n Mr Mchale-Smith explained: \u201cIn particular I enjoy providing help and working for local companies and charities.<\/p>\n “But it is very hard work. I can’t take a week off like I used to, so it has a huge impact on our home life.”<\/p>\n Ms Brankin added: \u201cIt just blew up out of nowhere, we really didn’t expect it. It’s lovely that we never have to use credit anymore. And we didn’t take any business loans.<\/p>\n “We can buy a holiday now whereas once we’d have saved for months. But the success is very much deserved. I don’t know anyone who works as hard as Liam – he’s unique, and such an inspiration to others.”<\/p>\n
