A MAJOR car maker will discontinue ALL petrol and diesel motors by 2030 as it moves to electric vehiclesin a "radical" change for Brits. <\/p>\n

The extremely popular car giant Fiat has announced they will start to phase out all of their models that run off fuel.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In a bid to help save the planet, the Italian brand revealed by the end of the decade they will not sell cars that run off petrol or diesel – and that they are going full electric. <\/p>\n

Outlining the sustainable vision, Fiat boss Olivier Francois told how from 2025 onwards, their production line will slowly eliminate motors that aren't chargeable. <\/p>\n

He said: "Between 2025 and 2030, our product line-up will gradually become electric only.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"This will be a radical change for Fiat."<\/p>\n

It's understood other major manufacturers such as Ford, Citroen, Bentley and Alfa Romeo could also be following in Fiat's footsteps.<\/p>\n

It comes after PM Rishi Sunak announced on Wednesday that he is set to delay a 2030 ban on petrol and diesel car sales by five years – marking a massive victory for The Sun's Give Us A Brake campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He promised a "better, more proportionate way" of reaching Net Zero that did not punish hard-pressed families.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mr Sunak declared a \u201cchange of direction is needed\u201d to keep the public onside over how to go carbon neutral by the middle of this century.<\/p>\n

Speaking from\u00a0No10\u00a0he said: \u201cIt should be you, the consumer, who makes that choice, not the Government forcing you to do it.<\/p>\n

Insisting he was still committed to the headline 2050 date, he warned it must be done in a \u201cmore proportionate way\u201d that does not hurt household budgets.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIt cannot be right for Westminster to impose such significant costs on working people.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we continue down this path, we risk losing the consent of the British people.\u201d<\/p>\n
