<\/p>\nNAMEDROP was one of the big new features to arrive in the free iOS 17 update.<\/p>\n
It's designed to make sharing contact details with people a lot easier.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
So forget noting down their name and number.<\/p>\n
NameDrop means you can just hold your iPhone up to the other person's iPhone and the contact details will be added automatically.<\/p>\n
To share your contact information, just hold the top ends of each iPhone close together.<\/p>\n
A faint glow will appear to show that your iPhone has connected to another iPhone.<\/p>\n
Your own contact card should appear on screen.<\/p>\n You can then tap to share your phone number or email.<\/p>\n There are also two buttons, Receive Only and Share.<\/p>\n Tap Done in the top left and the person's details will be saved.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n NameDrop works with any device that uses iOS 17.<\/p>\n If you don't have iOS 17 yet, it's available to download now with compatible iPhone devices.<\/p>\n It's important to note that NameDrop only works for new contacts.<\/p>\n NameDrop can't be used to update existing contact details.<\/p>\n NameDrop is an Apple idea.<\/p>\n So unfortunately you can't share contact details with your Android friends.<\/p>\n If you don't feel comfortable with NameDrop there is an option to switch it off.<\/p>\n Go to Settings, then General.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/MR-COMP-IPHONE-MARKINGS-COMP.jpg\")
