Pillows, bedsheets and mattresses often accumulate yellow marks after a few weeks of sleep due to an accumulation of sweat being absorbed into the material.<\/p>\n
The stains often leave a foul odour making it unhygienic to sleep on, which can then escalate into a build-up of bacteria and even mould growth if they\u2019re not washed correctly.<\/p>\n
Homemade solutions of white vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and water are some of the ways to help remove the stains.<\/p>\n
Rebecca Swain, mattress expert from\u00a0Winstons Beds\u00a0said: \u201cYellow stains are a burden for many homeowners as they\u2019re difficult to remove and can make a bed unhygienic to sleep on.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot cleaning the stains can lead to bacteria growth and even cases of mould if they\u2019re not given a deep clean.<\/p>\n

To use this method, squeeze two limes on the stains before giving it a deep wash.\u00a0<\/p>\n The expert said: \u201cThe acidic elements will help to bleach the stained yellow colouring.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cScrub it gently onto items such as mattresses so it doesn\u2019t ruin them. Leave it to rest for 30 minutes then wipe it down.\u201d<\/p>\n Hydrogen peroxide can work as a \u201csuper cleaner\u201d when it comes to yellow stains.\u00a0<\/p>\n Half a cup of hydrogen peroxide mixed with water can help to \u201crestore the bedding to its original colour\u201d. Simply sprinkle with baking soda afterwards to lift up the \u201ctougher stains\u201d.<\/p>\n Yellow stains in mattresses are usually the most difficult to lift out. Try and \u201cavoid using products like bleach\u201d as it can \u201cmake the stains worse\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n Instead, it is suggested to use a mixture of washing up liquid, hot water and baking soda and scrub the stains with a microfibre cloth.<\/p>\n1.
