A PETROLHEAD has revealed how he saved his neighbour's iconic but neglected Porsche after spotting it seven years ago.<\/p>\n

Peter Kaczynski, from New Jersey, shared the heartwarming story, along with photos of the gorgeous classic, on his Instagram page.<\/p>\n


\n<\/p>\n

Across two posts, he explained how he became aware of the stunning motor and how he finally managed to get hold of it.<\/p>\n

Peter wrote: "About 7 years ago while driving around my street I spotted an opened garage at a house just 8 houses away from mine. <\/p>\n

"In the garage, I saw what appeared to be the silhouette of a 911 under a car cover covered with cardboard boxes.<\/p>\n

"I kept my eye on the house and it looked empty. I found out that the owners moved and it was unoccupied for a few years.<\/p>\n

"I checked all public records in an attempt to contact the owner but no luck."<\/p>\n

He thought all hope was lost until, two weeks ago, he saw a skip outside the house and a car on the driveway.<\/p>\n

Peter said he was told that the homeowner had sadly passed away and that his son was now selling the house and the cars on the property.<\/p>\n

They opened the garage up and, much to his delight, found a 1968 Porsche 911 buried under the cardboard boxes.<\/p>\n

Even better, service documents revealed that the motor had never changed hands before.<\/p>\n

Sharing some photos of the sports car Peter added: "\u2063It was just left like this, neglected and forgotten, it\u2019s not cared for and loved."<\/p>\n

Since then, he has painstakingly restored and repaired the car, including a full engine rebuild and an overhaul of the suspension.<\/p>\n

A new lick of paint has left it gleaming, too.<\/p>\n

In one of his latest updates, he said that he just has a few more things to do before he can get it up and running again.<\/p>\n

It comes after an iconic screen car went up for sale at \u00a335,000 – but can you tell which film it's from?<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, residents living near an illegal car graveyard have slammed the site, saying it is a danger to their children.<\/p>\n
