Cleaning specialists at House Beautiful explained that one commonly overlooked part of the house is the walls, which can collect enough dust to provoke illness over time.<\/p>\n

The two main arguments for cleaning walls are to prolong the durability of paint and prevent immune reactions in people exposed to high levels of dust particles.<\/p>\n

Many presume that the best way to refresh the walls in hope is to lather a fresh layer of paint on them every once in a while, but that\u2019s not the case.<\/p>\n

Octave Villar from Behr Paint Company suggests washing your walls once a year to keep them in the best shape, The Mirror reports.<\/p>\n

He advises tackling tough stains with a bit of manual rubbing, preferably with the help of stronger cleaners like vinegar and soap.<\/p>\n

\u201cRenovating with a higher-sheen paint is preferred for safeguarding walls, especially for families with young children,” notes the expert.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn eggshell finish is a superior choice because it provides both durability and scrutability, while also offering a sheen that won\u2019t highlight wall imperfections.”<\/p>\n

Though the importance of wall cleaning is being reiterated across several platforms, TikTokers have been warned against the extreme methods of wall mopping. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite its potential to speed up cleaning time, especially for hard-to-reach areas, experts have been warned against the practice, as it is incompatible with certain types of paint.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you have a flat or matt finish and you have not used a wash or have pain then you should not be using water or a mop to clean your walls. Flat finish walls do not mix well with water,\u201d explained experts at The Paint Shed.<\/p>\n

Commenting on this, one Reddit user wrote: \u201cI only wash them in the bathrooms, kitchen and where I keep the cat boxes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wipe them down once or twice a week depending on how dirty they are.\u201d<\/p>\n
