HSBC UK is investigating “as a matter of urgency” as customers have been struggling to access banking services on Black Friday.<\/p>\n
Thousands of customers have been left without access to their internet banking as the Bank tries to resolve the matter.<\/p>\n
A message posted by the bank on X, formerly known as Twitter, said: “We understand some customers are having trouble accessing banking services as usual right now.<\/p>\n
“We’re investigating this as a matter of urgency and will share an update as soon as possible.”<\/p>\n
The disruption has happened as the Black Friday shopping bonanza gets under way, with retailers slashing their prices.<\/p>\n
READ MORE: <\/strong> NatWest and RBS closing 19 bank branches – full list of closures across UK[LATEST] <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Downdetector, which tracks websites, showed more than 4,100 people reported they could not access HSBC services.<\/p>\n The bank said it was “really sorry for the inconvenience”, and told the BBC the disruption was due to “an internal system issue”.<\/p>\n Users on X, formerly Twitter, responded to HSBC UK’s post on the platform with complaints – some saying they were unable to verify payments for Black Friday purchases or settle bills on payday.<\/p>\n One user complained: “I got paid today and cannot pay any bills! Sort it out HSBC.”<\/p>\n Others signalled their frustration at being unable to move money between accounts so they could make online purchases.<\/p>\n\n
