Porsche supercar previously owned by F1 star sells for huge six-figure sum… even with three dings & scratches | The Sun

A PORSCHE supercar previously owned by an F1 star has sold for a huge six-figure sum despite some damage.

The 2018 911 GT2 RS was snapped up by a private buyer in Belgium last week.

The sporty motor is kitted out with a performance upgrade from Manthey Racing.

This likely has something to do with the fact that it was formerly among the car collection of F1 driver and 2015 Le Mans winner Nico Hulkenberg.

In a YouTube video posted by Manthey, Hulkenberg, who currently races for Haas F1 Team, said: "I generally have petrol in my blood…it brings driving pleasure and fun.

"The [Porsche's] driving dynamics for a road-legal vehicle aren't provided by too many other cars.

"There was no question that I need such a car in my fleet…I love driving sports cars."

And he clearly valued it so much that he was very cautious in taking it out, as the car has only clocked up 7727 miles since it first rolled off the production line.

However, perhaps he wasn't as cautious as he should have been as the Porsche suffered a couple of minor scratches and dings, though these can't necessarily be blamed on the racing star.

Even despite the light damage, the gorgeous sportster managed to sell for a whopping £364,522.

Moreover, it apparently has even more celebrity pedigree with Hulkenberg not the most famous racer, or even the most famous Nico, to have called it his own.

While ownership documents have sadly been lost, the seller claims that the Porsche's first owner was World Championship winner Nico Rosberg, who famously beat out teammate Lewis Hamilton in the action-packed 2016 season.

Rosberg was the only man to break Hamilton's dominant run between 2014 and 2020 and his win would end up preventing the Brit from surpassing Michael Schumacher's five to claim the record for most consecutive world championship titles.

The listing on Collecting Cars described the Porsche as "a sensational modern supercar".

A spokesperson for the site said: "This 991.2-generation Porsche 911 GT2 RS is a particularly thrilling example of the marque’s already potent supercar, which was owned by F1 driver and Le Mans winner Nico Hulkenberg, who commissioned a host of discerning Manthey-Racing performance upgrades.

"Boasting a powerful tuned 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six engine coupled to a fast PDK gearbox, it would make a great addition to any collection of modern performance heroes, and a visceral weekend toy or track-day machine."

It comes after The Sun's own Rob Gill named McLaren's latest supercar as the best ever.
