I introduced an air purifier into my home and it saved me hours on dusting

The best air purifiers work to improve the indoor air quality inside the home, cleansing the air you breathe each day.

While it may not seem like there are many impurities inside, there are lots including dust and pet dander to name a couple.

Around a month ago I purchased the Silentnight Air Purifier for £55 from B&Q which wasn’t the cheapest nor the most expensive on the market.

Its description reads: “Clear air for a peaceful sleep with cleaner air in your home, bedroom or office.

“The activated HEPA Filter will quietly cleanse the air of 99.3 percent of airborne allergens including dust and pollen, whilst also removing odours.”

The air purifier couldn’t have been easier to use, with sleep settings which make the device even quieter.

After using it for one month I can see huge differences in the amount I’m having to clean furniture as well as the amount of cat hair there is around the home.

My hay fever symptoms and sinus issues dramatically improved as did my cat’s asthma symptoms.

Experts recommend the air purifier is left on 24/7, costing as little as £3 to £4 a month to run, depending on which one is being used.

Reviews of the air purifier were also incredibly positive, with it receiving several five-star reviews.

One review read: “My daughter’s hay fever has been worse than ever this year, she has been struggling since April.

“I decided to buy this air purifier last week as anything was worth a try. We use it two hours before bed and it has worked wonders, she doesn’t even ask for antihistamines.”

Chris Michael, managing director of Meaco, said: “You can also be allergic to your own bedroom because of issues such as dust mites, mould spores, pollen or pet dander.

“If that is the case, then an air purifier can help you create a place of sanctuary free from allergens so that you can sleep better.

“To be sure of removing most of the particles from the air, you need to choose a unit that has a HEPA filter. These filters are extremely fine, so can trap smaller particles than general air purifiers.”

Dehumidifiers can also be very helpful throughout the year, whether to help with drying washing or to prevent mould.

Dehumidifiers work by collecting excess moisture in the air which can cause a whole range of issues within the home.

Meaco’s Arete One device is a dehumidifier and air purifier in one, offering the best of both worlds.
